The last few years have not always been easy for the Montreal Canadiens.

The club made it to the Stanley Cup Final in 2021, and then it got tougher. A rebuild began and the Habs missed the playoffs for three straight seasons.

But things are starting to turn around slowly. And Geoff Molson knows it.

In an interview with Eric Engels(Sportsnet), the Habs owner mentioned that his club has “turned the corner.” He knows that the good years are coming, and he's proud to know that his team will have what it takes to be competitive for a long time to come.

In particular, he tips his hat to Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton, who have been doing a hell of a job since arriving in town.

Seeing the team's owner say this openly shows that people high up in the organization believe in Hugo's plan.

It shows that things have been done the right way, and it also shows that Molson has great confidence in Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton. Which, in fact, makes perfect sense too.

We keep saying it, but it's true that the next few years are going to be exciting for the Canadiens.

The youngsters in place (Dobson, Suzuki, Caufield, Hutson, Slafkovsky, Bolduc, Demidov, and so on) are good and here to stay, there are more prospects on the way… and the Canadiens are well equipped at every position for the future.

Geoff Molson is obviously aware of this, and it must be exciting for him too, in a way. He's likely to see his club remain competitive for a long time to come, and that can only help his business too.

It's been a long rebuild… but it's been worth it, too.

Overtime

– Good.

– Pooler alert.

– It's going to be a good show.
