The situation in front of the Canadiens' net is clearly a major problem this season, with the Habs' goaltenders unable to be consistent.
Samuel Montembeault has been struggling since the start of the campaign, while Jakub Dobes, despite an excellent start to the season, hasn't been the most consistent since.
The goaltenders' performances are clearly affecting the Habs' results this season, which is worrying for the future.
The Habs need consistent goaltenders who make key saves, but that's not always the case right now.
It's such a worrying and disturbing situation that Jacob Fowler has been recalled to help the team, while Samuel Montembeault has been sent to Laval for a period of reconditioning.
A few rumors about the acquisition of a goalkeeper in Montreal therefore logically emerged, but now Kent Hughes has stated that the solution to the team's goalkeeping woes lies in-house.

Indeed, that's what the Habs GM said at his press briefing this morning about the Phillip Danault trade.
Towards the end of the press briefing, Hughes was asked about his goaltending situation, and the general manager confidently replied that the solution was in-house.
In other words, the GM still believes in his goalies, and is confident that they will rise to the occasion and lead the team to the end of the season.
Of course, Hughes wouldn't have disagreed, saying that he was looking hard for a goalie on the trade market, but all the same, the GM seems confident in his goalies.
In the case of Samuel Montembeault, Hughes explained that his move to Laval was simply a decision to help Sam find himself and come back stronger in Montreal.
It's a situation we'll be keeping a close eye on, in the hope that the Habs goalies will perform consistently.
Jakub Dobes gave the Habs two good games in a row this week, so let's hope it continues.
Let's also remember that, at the moment, it's hard to find a goalie on the open market.
Overtime
– That's for sure.
#Habs GM Kent Hughes on Danault: “Guys go through these periods in their career where they're not having the success they typically have. We're pretty confident he'll come here, he'll be energized, and I think he's pretty excited to be coming back to Montreal.”
