Things aren't going well for the Leafs at the moment.

Last night, Craig Berube's men suffered a 4-0 drubbing at the hands of the Capitals. The effort wasn't there on the Toronto side, and the club's overall performance is getting attention for all the wrong reasons.

After the game, the team's head coach didn't think it was funny… and kind of threw all his players under the bus. The following sequence says it all:

The Leafs have lost four of their last six games and currently sit 14th in the Eastern Conference.

You know, when I said at the beginning of the text that things were going badly in Toronto…

But it doesn't stop there either.

For the first time in 13 years, the Leafs are no longer able to fill their amphitheater. They've been sold out for 13 years, and that's simply not the case anymore.

When your own club's fans no longer show up at the arena to cheer on the players on the ice, it's because there's a problem.

A real problem.

When you look at the work as a whole, you realize that it really isn't beautiful. And there are a few reasons I can think of to say that…

  • Leafs lost Marner for peanuts
  • Auston Matthews no longer looks like a dominant player
  • John Tavares is getting old
  • The club has virtually no quality prospects
  • The club has virtually no quality picks
  • The goalies in front of the net are often injured

It really seems like nothing is going right for the Leafs at the moment. And it could be difficult over the next few years, when you consider that they don't have any interesting prospects in the pipeline.

Hey boy. It could be a long time coming in Toronto…

Overtime

– Nice contest.

– Yep.

– Nice line-up.

– He's had a great career.
