As you may know, Samuel Montembeault scored four goals yesterday for the Laval Rocket.

Was it a bad outing? Not necessarily. After all, he received very little support from his teammates, and many of those goals were quality shots.

So he didn't suck, as many claim.

But nine days (not a year) after his last NHL game, we saw the Samuel Montembeault again, unable to make a positive difference for his team.

Sometimes, the goalie has to make that big save that gives everyone confidence.

But despite all this, Pascal Vincent didn't go before the media to plant his new goalkeeper. On the contrary, he praised the goalkeeper.

He said his attitude was exemplary.

Of course, no one doubted his attitude. We know that Samuel Montembeault is a bon vivant and an exemplary teammate, even in the face of adversity.

And since he chose to say yes to going to Laval, we suspected he wouldn't be a pushover.

That said, it's worth noting that the Rocket coach, who is aware that his club hasn't been perfect defensively in helping the goalie, didn't praise Monty either.

And rightly so.

Monty will also play tomorrow night, against the same Cleveland Monsters. After that, he'll join the Canadiens in Pittsburgh, but we don't know if he'll be activated or not.

If he isn't activated in Pittsburgh or Boston, he'll be eligible to play games with the Rocket after Christmas.

– Really?

– Good one.
