Scott Boras wants Kyle Tucker to sign a contract with Cody Bellinger. That's his goal.
But why? Presumably to say that his client is better for X, Y or Z reasons and to say that the outfielder who spent last season in New York deserves more money than Tucker… which is illogical.
In any case, right now, no one has offered a contract that lives up to the Boras/Bellinger clan's expectations. That explains why he's still a free agent, according to Jack Curry.
And since Bellinger signed a short-term deal two years ago, he probably doesn't want to do the same thing again this winter.

We can well imagine that Boras will be voracious to sign his client, whose #1 quality isn't exactly consistency, to a big contract. But just how greedy is he?
A columnist on the Forbes website (after all, eh) dropped a bombshell.
According to Barry M. Bloom's information (as posted on Twitter, referring to himself in the third person), Cody Bellinger's clan is looking for an eight-year contract valued at $400 million.
Excuse me??? What's he been smoking?

We have no doubt that Boras will be asking for quite a bit of money, in order to make the negotiation work to his advantage. But a long-term contract of $50 million a year is simply ridiculous.
The guy isn't Juan Soto or Shohei Ohtani, you know.
If he asks for more money (and we're not talking $400 million here for a guy who was already dropped by the Dodgers just three years ago), it'll be for more than eight years, to reduce the salary footprint of his deal.
But he'll never get $400 million. Even Tucker could get less than that.
No club is desperate enough to go that far. The Blue Jays won't. Neither will the Dodgers. The Yankees certainly won't give him more than Aaron Judge.
And the Mets? Steve Cohen might, but his president might not. So no, I don't see who would give Bellinger $400 million.
