There's never smoke without fire. Right?…

I say this because there have been rumors involving Phillip Danault and the Canadiens lately. The Canadiens called the Kings for information on the center, and it's getting a lot of attention for logical reasons.

That said… there will be a Kings scout at the Bell Centre tonight. Is this just a coincidence? We ask you…

If we're talking about a coincidence, it's worth mentioning that it's a wicked good one.

After all, the rumors between the Canadiens and the Kings seem to have intensified in recent days. The Canadiens have been linked to Phillip Danault (who is injured at the moment) and it's no coincidence, in my eyes, that a Kings scout will be on hand tonight for a game against the Blackhawks.

In fact… it's hard to believe that the scout will be there to watch the Chicago team tonight. There's no logic to it…

It doesn't mean that a transaction will take place after tonight's game. Nor does it mean that Danault will automatically join the Canadiens in the next few days.

But it does mean…

But it does mean that the Habs' interest in Danault is real, and that the Kings are aware of it. They wouldn't have sent someone to watch the game just like that, by chance… when the center is at the heart of so many rumors right now.

It's interesting, let's face it.

Still, it doesn't mean that a move is imminent… but just knowing that the Kings have sent one of their scouts to tonight's game is intriguing as hell.

And clearly, it makes you wonder if there's something going on between the two teams right now.
