Tonight, there are two games that Canadiens fans will want to watch: the Canadiens and the Rocket.

In Montreal, the Habs will host the Blackhawks. Jakub Dobes is expected to guard his team's net, and the question is whether Mike Matheson will return to action.

To be seen in due course. But the 10:30 a.m. practice this morning will surely give us some answers.

Otherwise, the Rocket Match will be important. It will be Samuel Montembeault's first duel under the Habs' club-school colors since joining the organization in 2021.

Game time is 7 p.m. tonight in Cleveland.

The Rocket will also continue to keep an eye on David Reinbacher's performance. He's taking his chances down there, and that's good for the organization.

And the more time passes, the more the question arises.

Because in reality, the Canadiens tested several youngsters (Jacob Fowler, Florian Xhekaj, Jared Davidson, Joshua Roy, Owen Beck, Oliver Kapanen, and Adam Engstrom) this year…

But not Reinbacher.

There are two schools of thought. There are those who want to see the prospect tested at the top, to see what's in his body… and there are those who want him recalled only when he's ready to settle down.

And two members of the Canadiens organization (Stéphane Robidas and Pascal Vincent) are more of the opinion that right now, Laval is the place to be for the right-hander.

In a piece on the subject signed by Marc de Foy, Vincent says that while the youngster is progressing well and could hold his own in the NHL, seeing him stay down there is preferable. We understand that the goal is not to see him “survive” in the NHL.

The goal is for him to be in an advantageous position.

But it would have to be more than a simple recall. It would be more to ensure that he never returns to Laval. – Pascal Vincent

The Canadiens already have a lot of young players, and I don't think Martin St-Louis is in a hurry to manage another one. Unless there's a rash of injuries, of course.

However, I'd be very surprised if Habs management didn't want to test Reino up top. It may not happen in the short term, but within a few months, if all goes well, I expect the Austrian to make his NHL debut.
