The Canadiens were washed out by the Lightning last night, leading to the eventual recall of Jacob Fowler, Owen Beck, and Adam Engstrom.

Nine other games were on the schedule.

Here are the results and highlights:

1. Nathan MacKinnon, first to 50 points

For the second season in a row, the first player to reach 50 points in the NHL is Nathan MacKinnon. This time, he achieved the feat in just 30 games.

In a 4-3 shootout loss to the Preds, Mack registered two assists.

One of those assists came on Cale Makar's tying goal.

There were only seconds left in the game.

In the shootout, Filip Forsberg collided with Scott Wedgewood and was forced to leave.

Mackenzie Blackwood came on in relief in the shootout: that's rare to see. He didn't face a shot, however, as Gabriel Landeskog didn't score.

2. Evan Bouchard makes a fool of himself again

Once again last night, Evan Bouchard made a fool of himself. And with the Olympics only a few months away, this blunder comes at a very bad time.

He plays so softly…

The Oilers were down 3-1 in this game, but late in the game, when it was 3-2, Connor McDavid sent everyone into overtime.

He scored with just over a second left in the game.

It was the Sabres, however, who had the last word in this overtime.

Alex Tuch sent everyone home.

In Buffalo, Josh Doan stood out with two goals, including a superb one between the legs.

3. Beckett Sennecke, top scorer with 10 goals and 25 points among rookies

In the race for the Calder Trophy, there's a lot of talk about Ivan Demidov and Matthew Schaefer, but don't dismiss Beckett Sennecke too quickly.

Yesterday, he became the first rookie to reach the 25-point plateau and the first to reach the 10-goal plateau.

His 25 points came courtesy of an assist early in the game.

He reached the 10-goal plateau on the tying goal late in the game.

Another game that needed overtime after a last-gasp equalizer, then.

Anaheim finally came from behind to win in a shootout against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

4. Two Knights players lose puck in shootout

The Golden Knights also forced overtime with a last-second goal.

Pavel Dorofeyev, with just over 10 seconds left, sent everyone back to square one.

The shootouts were not very glorious for the visitors.

Two of the shooters, Mitch Marner and Shea Theodore, lost the puck.

Emil Heineman has threaded the needle.

5. 13 straight road games with at least one point for Dallas

The Central Division is excellent.

Obviously, the Avalanche rarely lose, but so do the Stars. Yesterday, they won 4-3 against the Jets to extend their streak of games with at least one point on the road to 13.

Mikko Rantanen led the charge for the Stars, notching three assists.

The Finn now has 42 points in 30 games this season.

Jason Robertson is on fire too.

He's scored a 16th goal in his last 15 games.

On the Jets side, Mark Scheifele scored two goals, but surely his good game wasn't enough.
