Connor McDavid's contract situation has been less talked about in the NHL since yesterday. Why? Because it's Kirill Kaprizov's that's getting most of the attention at the moment. The player reportedly turned down a $128 million offer from the Wild, and it makes you wonder whether the Russian really wants to settle in Minnesota for the long term. But things took another interesting turn today. According to Alexei Shevchenko, a journalist in Russia, the Wild asked Kaprizov for his list of teams he'd like to be traded to. Remember: Kaprizov has a full no-movement clause and can “block” any trade. In that context, the Wild would have the right to ask him for a list of teams he likes… to facilitate a trade at the end of the day.Whoa.

Obviously, every club in the National League must be interested in him. But in reality, what's a little special about this one… is that Kaprizov is in control of his situation. He's the one who can decide where he wants to go, and the Wild can't trade him anywhere just because he doesn't want to play in Minnesota anymore. It's also worth noting that in the recent episode of his 32 Thoughts Podcast, Elliotte Friedman mentioned that another NHL team would seem ready to offer Kaprizov a huge amount of money if he really becomes available. Which club are we talking about here? That's the question, but right now, the Kaprizov file is getting bigger as time goes on. We're probably starting to get a little worried in Minnesota, because losing a player like him would really be a catastrophe… because the Wild's plan isn't to rebuild with the players they have in place. And even if there is a deal, it would hurt.
