Ivan Demidov and Lane Hutson come first, but there's a lot of quality young players in Montreal. You could say that in the phrase “quality before quantity” (or the other way around), the Habs have decided not to pick and choose, and to go with both options. Recently, the NHL website shared its take on next season's hockey pools, and Demidov should be very useful this year. And the same can be said ofHutson, who would be an excellent choice in keeper leagues, as would Demidov, according to Scott Wheeler. Well, now NHL Nwtwork has published its famous ranking of the NHL's top 25 prospects, all positions combined. Of course, Demidov is highly ranked (2nd), but what really catches the eye is Jacob Fowler at 24th.

This is very encouraging for Habs fans, as Fowler is actually the only goalie on this list, which technically makes him the best prospect in front of the net. It's hard to say how dominant Fowler will be in the NHL, since it's very difficult to predict the NHL career of a promising young goalie. He certainly has some fine qualities, including a calmness in front of the net reminiscent of… Carey Price. Needless to say , these qualities are extremely desirable in a young goaltender. And on top of all that, he's breaking records wherever he goes. There aren't many prospects in front of the net who are as dominant as Fowler. Even if the sample size is quite small at the professional level, he still showed great things with the Laval Rocket at the end of last season. Let's see what he has in store for us for the 2025-26 season. Will we see him in a CH uniform this year?
