Roger-Comtois High School's Patriotes enter the 20th season in the history of their football program. The Juvenile squad has been working hard to get ready for this big year.
Playing in the competitive Division 2 of provincial youth football, the Patriotes are continuing their preparations for the official kick-off scheduled for Friday, August 29 at 7:30 p.m. on the field of Roger-Comtois high school in Loretteville. Head coach Philippe Brown says the Juvenile team is well prepared to defend the Patriotes' honor in 2025. The Pats went on a closed retreat for a weekend to practice, but above all to forge bonds between the 76 players in this deep-rooted formation.
“It's a tradition at Roger-Comtois. We go out as a team and we want to get to know each other. No one has a cell phone, and we take advantage of this period to establish a culture and create chemistry before the start of the new season. Everyone's on board 100%, it's a big camp, but it's really pleasant and rewarding! We've been working on a culture of resilience this year. It's important as a football team, but also in life. There really is a before and an after. There are 76 players this year, so it's important to bond with our group.
“
After going through all the missed notifications on the phone, the players and coaches returned to their facilities to make the final preparations. As you know, there's a lot of work going on behind the scenes for the players on a football team before the start of a new season. The Patriotes have a simple but effective game plan: culture first. Giving an identity to this 2025 edition:
“It's very important for me and the program. We're into tactics and technique, but we want to make sure we have a family spirit first and foremost. During the camp, we really want to instill quality ,not quantity. We try to find a pedagogical way to keep it simple. We take a basic game and then want to bring in variations to add strings to our bow, but keep it simple for our players.”

From school football to the NFL, that's often the key to success
An eagerly-awaited opening game to launch an important season
To kick off the festivities, they welcome Polyvalente Deux-Montagnes, and the duels involving the two teams are always fiercely contested.
Second day of school, we're expecting a big crowd! We know it's a good program; PDM reached the final of the Bol d'Or last year. We're confident in our group. We're fast and we want to play that way offensively, with a strong forward line, and defensively, we want to get to the ball quickly. We've got a good group of veterans who are ready to lead the gang and rookies who are pushing to be able to play. It's a great internal competition.
“
With the 20th anniversary for the Roger-Comtois program, can the Juvenile team feel any pressure to perform well throughout this season?
“From the first meeting of the season, we talked about honoring the program and the alumni who have passed. It's a program that's at the stage of winning at the Juvenile level and we want to move towards that. I don't see it as pressure, but more as a frenzy and gas for us! It's my responsibility as a coach to bring that aspect in as motivation, rather than pressure.”
