Kent Hughes did not add any players on the trade deadline. However, he just made one of the biggest moves of his career by bringing Ivan Demidov to Montreal immediately.

In the midst of a playoff run, Demidov’s arrival in the city is the best gift the guys in the locker room could have asked for.

The chemistry in the locker room is excellent and the arrival of the kid is not going to make everything fall apart for the worse. On the contrary, it’s going to give an incredible boost to the locker room.

Already, the proverbial vibes in the club were excellent, and you can be sure that it’s only going to get better.

Already, the atmosphere around the Habs was crazy among fans in this fantastic push towards the playoffs, and it’s clear that this is going to put even more attention on the Canadiens.

This is a big move. Because even if Demidov doesn’t have much experience as a pro, he’s immediately becoming one of the best players on the Canadiens.

And he’s going to get playing time. He won’t have to go back and play in the VHL in Russia, not now…

If I’m the Washington Capitals, a team that just experienced an incredible high with Alex Ovechkin’s record chase and can only experience less exciting emotions for the rest of the things, I’m worried.

Warning: I’m not saying the Habs, who risk facing the Caps in the playoffs, are going to crush everything.

But what I’m saying is that Demidov’s arrival makes the Habs more dangerous. All the guys in the locker room must feel invincible right now because reinforcements like that are worth their weight in gold.

Went Hughes has struck.
