The Canadiens found a way to beat the Panthers last night at the Bell Centre.

And let’s say the end of the game was quite a spectacle!

There were also nine other games presented in the four corners of the league. Let’s see what happened:

1 : Anthony Duclair gets destroyed by Patrick Roy

If Anthony Duclair thought joining Patrick Roy with the Islanders would give him special treatment… he was wrong.

Last night, the Islanders lost 4-1 to the Lightning and Roy ripped his player after the game.

Roy explained that Duclair played only a little over 12 minutes because he was “awful”.

The Isles’ coach even said Duclair was lucky to be in the lineup…

Ouch:

Duclair was also chewed out when he played for Patrick Roy with the Remparts in Quebec.

And it was a bit for the same problem: Duclair is not able to be consistent with the effort he gives on the ice and Roy got fed up.

The message got through, at least.

And I’m eager to see how the player will respond…

2 : Two important points for the Habs

Of course, we were watching the Canadiens last night because it was an important game for the standings.

But elsewhere in the race…

  • The Senators lost 5-2 to the Sabres
  • The Jackets beat the Preds 8-4
  • The Islanders lost 4-1 to the Lightning
  • The Red Wings lost 2-1 to the Blues in overtime
This means that this morning, the Habs are still holding on to the last playoff spot with 79 points.

The Blue Jackets and the Rangers are close behind… and it’s starting to heat up:

This is really the most important part of the season for the Canadiens.

Remains to be seen if the players will respond to the call… Because if they don’t, the Habs will get passed at the finish line by another team.

3 : Another goal for Ovi

Ryan Leonard was playing his first NHL game last night – and Jacob Fowler was there to cheer him on with a beer in hand.

And the young man stood out with a huge hit:

Leonard was left off the scoresheet… but Alex Ovechkin got closer to Wayne Gretzky’s all-time record.

Yes… Ovi scored again:

The Capitals have eight games left to play before the end of the regular season and Ovechkin is only four goals away from breaking the record of #99.

Will the Capitals’ captain make history this season?

That would be something!

4 : No one can stop the Blues

The Blues are too strong.

They won again last night with a goal in overtime from Cam Fowler.

The Red Wings lost that game 2-1… But it doesn’t matter: it seems too easy for the St. Louis team right now.

The Blues are really unstoppable:

The Blues have now won 10 consecutive games and it’s happening at the best time of the season.

They’re really starting to scare people ahead of the playoffs… and it looks like the 2019 story is repeating itself:

5 : Hat trick for Marchenko

I’ve said it and I’ll keep saying it: Kirill Marchenko is perhaps the most underappreciated player in the NHL.

The Blue Jackets’ young star helped his team beat the Preds 8-4 with a hat trick.

He now has 31 goals and 70 points in as many games this season:

Marchenko is really establishing himself as one of the good forwards in the NHL.

Good for the Jackets!

Let’s note that in the win, Sean Monahan also had fun, finishing the night with a beautiful four-point performance (two goals and two assists).

He’s really helping his new team since his arrival in Columbus.

Overtime

– I love his reaction.

– What a goal!

– Wow.

– Well done.
