Michael Hage: his season is over

Michael Hage: his season is over

About two weeks ago, Michael Hage and the University of Michigan were eliminated from their conference tournament by Penn State University.

Hage’s season was not over yet, as he was waiting to find out the fate of his university, whether it would be selected among the 16 teams that will participate in the Frozen Four tournament.

To do so, Michigan had to hope that there would be no surprises last night, and that the top-ranked teams would win.

Well, unfortunately for Hage and the University of Michigan (ranked 15th), last night, the University of Quinnipiac (ranked 13th) lost 3-2 in overtime to Cornell University (ranked 17th).

With this win, Cornell advanced to the ECAC conference final and eliminated Michigan.

Therefore, Michael Hage’s season is officially over, given that the final of his division (ECAC) features two lower-ranked teams, namely Cornell University (17th) and Clarkson University (20th).

Notably, Clarkson University is led by Jean-François Houle, the former head coach of the Laval Rocket, who left the team to join Clarkson after signing a new contract with the Rocket.

Briefly, kudos to Houle, who seems to have done a good job with his team to bring them to the division final.

If they were to win against Cornell, Clarkson would qualify for the Frozen Four tournament.

In short, to get back to Michael Hage, he will not be part of the Frozen Four tournament, as the 16 teams are represented by the six division champions and a selection of the top ten non-champion teams.

This will be a tournament to watch, as Jacob Fowler will participate with Boston College.

As for Hage, I don’t think we should expect him to sign with the Habs, even if he was named Rookie of the Year in the Big Ten.

Another season in the NCAA would be highly beneficial for him, as was the case for Cole Caufield and Lane Hutson.

Hage will be a good player in the NHL, we just need to be patient and wait another season.
