Without Kirby Dach and Jake Evans, Christian Dvorak would become important

For a second consecutive campaign, Kirby Dach will have suffered a right knee injury that drastically ended his season.

At least this time, Dach will have played 57 games, and not two games.

However, the loss of number 77 hurts the Montreal Canadiens a lot, even if Dach was not performing at the expected level this season.

And let’s say that if it hurts the CH and the fans, imagine how much it hurts for Kirby Dach, whose morale must be at -1000 right now, after all the bad luck in the last two seasons.

He had such a promising future, and he had shown such great things in his first season with the Tricolore, that in the end, he is a player that nobody wants, because he is fragile.

It’s really a shame, and let’s say that it puts the CH in a very delicate situation, as they have to start looking for a second center again.

They will have to find a long-term solution, which is not a gamble like Kirby Dach and Alex Newhook, but rather a certainty.

Now, in the short term, they need to find a solution as well, especially with the potential departure of Jake Evans.

Owen Beck is fine, but it will take someone else to play center, and that’s where Christian Dvorak, against all expectations, could have great importance.

In fact, even if all fans are eager for Dvorak to leave, with Kirby Dach’s injury and Jake Evans’ increasingly likely trade departure, someone has to take on a center role in the top-9 and even in the top-6.

If Kent Hughes was counting on trading Dvorak and Evans by March 7, well, Dach’s long-term injury has probably changed the general manager’s plans.

Dvorak’s value is certainly lower, and so, rather than getting a fourth-round pick, it’s better to keep him and avoid putting the Laval Rocket in trouble.

Why am I talking about the Rocket?

Because logically, if Dach, Evans, and Dvorak are no longer there after March 7, it’s Rocket players who will come to fill those center positions in Montreal.

And that’s clearly not ideal, considering that Laval is one of the best teams in the American League, and they’re preparing for a potentially long playoff run.

Weakening Pascal Vincent’s team would not be a good idea.

So, keeping Dvorak becomes important, because otherwise, the Tricolore would impact the success of its farm team too much.

CH alignment without Dach, Evans, and Dvorak:

Caufield – Suzuki – Slafkovsky
Laine – Beck – Newhook
Anderson – ??? – Gallagher
Pezzetta – ??? – Armia (if he’s not traded)

The CH would need three Rocket players if Evans, Dvorak, and even Armia leave, whereas they would need only two, and for a fourth line if Dvorak stays.

The options would be numerous, as the CH could either recall veterans like Lucas Condotta, Alex Barré-Boulet, Rafaël Harvey-Pinard, or Laurent Dauphin.

Or they could give chances to young players like Jared Davidson, Sean Farrell, or Joshua Roy.

In short, the options are very numerous, but they would all directly impact the Rocket’s success.

So, it’s better to keep Dvorak and avoid recalling too many players from the Rocket.

Who would have thought that Christian Dvorak would become important, even indispensable…
