Darren Dreger: Sean Monahan to be traded (sooner rather than later)
For the second year in a row, the subject of a potential transaction involving Sean Monahan is the talk of Montreal. The center, who is healthy this season (and was not last year), is an interesting target for teams looking for a player to solidify their center line.

Because when healthy, Monahan is a solid third center for an aspiring team. There’s a reason why a guy like him will attract teams.

That said, some would prefer to see Monahan stay in town long-term with a contract extension… but according to Darren Dreger, that’s not going to happen.

In fact, the TSN tipster revealed during the Insider Trading segment that Monahan has a verbal agreement with Kent Hughes and the Habs that he will be traded to a contending team (or a team of his choice) when the time is right. The agreement dates back to last summer (when the forward signed his last contract in town), and according to Dreger, nothing has changed at this level.

So we should expect Monahan to be traded, and to be traded sooner rather than later.

More details to come…
