Logan Mailloux has as many points as Shane Wright this season
When the Canadiens decided to select Juraj Slafkovsky over Shane Wright at the 2022 NHL draft, comparisons between the two players began to explode. This time, however, the comparison is between Wright and another Canadiens prospect: Logan Mailloux.

Both players currently have the same number of points this season in the AHL: 20 points each.

Well, Mailloux has played four more games than Wright, but he’s also a defenseman! It’s incredible to see him reach this mark.

You have to understand that Shane Wright doesn’t have bad stats in the AHL. He’s only 20 and still developing. Many players in the 2022 draft are still at junior level.

Except that Logan Mailloux, who is the same age as Wright, is performing incredibly well. He has collected seven points in his last seven games.

This may have something to do with the fact that he’s now paired full-time with Arber Xhekaj, who’s also having a great time with the Laval Rocket.

Right-handed defenseman Logan Mailloux could eventually make his mark with the Habs, but, unsurprisingly, Kent Hughes will probably leave him in the AHL for a while longer so he can build up his confidence before embarking on his next challenge.

And Rocket fans certainly won’t complain about this decision.

Mailloux’s attack is superb, that much has now been proven. Now he’ll have to take the time to perfect his defensive game. The same is true of Arber Xhekaj.

Together, these two players can try to improve their defense and, who knows, perhaps carve out a permanent position for themselves in Montreal. A duo of Xhekaj and Mailloux could help the Habs’ depth for years to come.

Logan Mailloux is on the right track, he just needs to keep going and add a little more defensive talent to his game.

In short

– Monty still has a lot of potential.

– he wouldn’t make it past the waivers anyway.

– Nylander won’t be poor.
