Ilya Samsonov placed in the waivers
Yesterday, Sheldon Keefe openly criticized his goalie Ilya Samsonov, and rightly so.

After all, he’s not making the saves or playing up to his talent in 2023-2024.

Today, the Leafs have had enough and have decided to waive him.

The Toronto team didn’t hesitate to place a veteran on waivers.

Will Kent Hughes do the same with Jake Allen?

To be continued.

As for Samsonov, in 15 starts this season, he has a 3.94 goals-against average and a .862 save percentage. So he deserves to be on the waivers.

Until July 1, the Russian earns $3.55 million. Will a team dare to take on this contract?

We’ll know tomorrow at 2 p.m.

The fact that Samsonov was placed in the waivers doesn’t necessarily mean that Joseph Woll is ready to return to the game. Indeed, Martin Jones is still around and Dennis Hildeby could be recalled.

Extension

Sabres goalie Eric Comrie has also been placed in the waivers.

It’s the end of the ménage à trois in Buffalo.
