Nolan Patrick has not retired
This morning, news appeared on social networks that Nolan Patrick had retired.

The player has struggled with concussion issues in the past and everyone thought it was over for him because he hasn’t played since the 2021-2022 season.

But wait a minute.

Global News Network reached out to the 2nd overall pick in the 2017 draft to get his side of the story… And the player’s family confirmed that Patrick didn’t make the actual decision to hang up his skates.

Elliotte Friedman also tried to contact the 25-year-old, but he politely declined to comment on the situation :

Note that the original publication has been removed from all platforms.

That said, there’s someone out there who clearly didn’t do his job like the rest of us. No one had the reflex to verify the information in the first place, and that’s a problem.

Because in the end, it’s journalistic credibility that suffers. And what’s more, it comes just over a week after Jon Morosi reported that Shohei Ohtani was on a plane to Toronto, even though the news was false…

We don’t know Patrick’s state of health, but I wish him well. He was so destined for a bright future when he was drafted by the Flyers a few years ago…

And it’s always a shame to see such a young player having such physical difficulties.

In closing, Nolan Patrick is not currently under contract to play in the NHL. He’ll have to come to an agreement with a team if he wants to return to the big league.
