What Jaromir Jagr is achieving is fascinating.
The man, who will celebrate his 52nd birthday in February 2024, has yet to hang up his skates.
Jagr played his first game of the season today with Kladno… and his club lost 4-3.
But in defeat, he still managed to get his name in the scoring column.
The former NHLer collected an assist on his team's first goal. One of his teammates jumped on his throw-in return to take advantage of an almost abandoned cage:

This is really impressive.
A few years ago, Jagr said he was practically forced to play. He said that if he stopped playing, the financial partners would abandon the club and that would have been the death knell for the team.
I wonder if these are the same reasons why he still laces up his skates today.
That said, you have to be passionate to continue playing professionally at that age.
It reminds me of Chris Chelios, who decided to retire after finishing a few games with the Atlanta Trashers in the 2009-2010 season. Chelios was 48 at the time.
This is Jagr's 37th season at the professional level. Will he make it to 40? Is this finally the final lap for the man who collected 1,921 career points in the NHL?
Only time will tell. But in the meantime, we have to salute his hard work and determination.

– Great story.
After Ivan Miroshnichenko was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma, he got a call of encouragement from Mario Lemieux (diagnosed in 1992), who shared is own experience and said, “Life doesn't end. You're going to recover.”

– Good point.
Missing part of the season did not mean a missed opportunity for @Chris_Wideman.
