The complement to the Suzuki-Caufield duo may be found between Laval and Montreal

Emil Heineman is currently with the big club in Montreal. A few hours ago, however, he was listed on the Laval Rocket roster. At this point, it’s fair to say that he’s somewhere between Laval and Montreal, especially since he’s not yet a full-fledged member of the Habitants de Montréal!

Heineman has yet to appear in a Montreal Canadiens jersey in a regular game, and that first appearance could come as early as tomorrow (Saturday), against the New York Islanders. If he’s in uniform, he’ll find himself on the fourth unit, but he has the potential to climb the ladder quickly.

If he gets his Snakes & Ladders joust right, he could join captain Nick Suzuki and the Caufield machine gun within a few games (assuming he gets his first one quickly).

My colleague from Jeff & Chris: Power Forwards has been abeliever in Heineman’s up-side since his acquisition via the Florida Panthers. He’s not the only one to believe in him, as Jean-Charles Lajoie(JiC) spoke out in favor of him on his last show of the year.

“He could be a revelation. It would be nice to have another shooter on that trio, so Suzuki would be less predictable. We know Suzuki always passes the puck to Caufield.” – Jic and Tony Marinaro

And before going with that revelation, JiC delivered quite a plea in favor of the 22-year-old, who possesses, I remind you, all the assets of an NHL player.

“If Heineman doesn’t play tomorrow, I’m descending some saints from heaven. Put him in the lineup! He’s a National League player. He’s got a wrist shot, National League physique and skating stroke, and he thinks like a pro. When you’re in development, be consistent with what you say. If you want the boots to follow the chops, he needs to be dressed tomorrow night and then head out West with the team!” – JiC

Let’s hope Martin St-Louis inserts him into his line-up so JiC keeps his Saints inside his coconut.
