Emil Heineman recalled, Tanner Pearson on injured list
We knew there was a chance the Habs would recall a forward from the Rocket.

Now it’s done.

The Canadiens have recalled forward Emil Heineman from the Laval Rocket and have placed forward Tanner Pearson on the injured list.

Pearson has been placed on the injured list to make room for Heineman in the 23-man roster.

The veteran will miss four to six weeks with an upper-body injury.

This is a well-deserved recall for Heineman, who had a good training camp with the Canadiens in September. He was one of the last forwards cut by the Habs and started the season in the AHL.

A nasty injury, however, got in the way. The forward has played only seven games this season in Laval and has four points, including one goal.

The Habs need some offensive punch, and that’s where Heineman’s recall comes in. We know he’s capable of scoring goals with his powerful wrist shot, and I’m curious to see if he’ll be able to adapt quickly to the National League game.

He won’t be in uniform tonight, and whether he will be on Saturday at the Bell Centre against the Islanders is anyone’s guess.

Extension

Tanner Pearson joins Rafaël Harvey-Pinard, Alex Newhook, Kirby Dach, Jordan Harris and Chris Wideman on the club’s injury list.

At the time of writing, Carey Price is the only Habs player on the long-term injury list.
