The hockey world enters the race for Shohei Ohtani

Shohei Ohtani. It’s the name on everyone’s lips this Friday in the sports world. Fans of the Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers have been holding their breath for several days, dreaming of seeing their team sign the Japanese prodigy.

MLB Network’s Jon Morosi reported in the afternoon that Shohei Ohtani was headed to Toronto, and Twitter went wild.

Sources: Shohei Ohtani is en route to Toronto today.

A representative of his agency, CAA, would not comment when asked about Ohtani’s travel plans.

Baseball fans were following a plane by the thousands, traveling from California (home of Shohei Ohtani) to Toronto and supposedly Ohtani’s.

With the rumors at their peak, some hockey teams decided to ride the wave by jokingly announcing the Japanese signing. The Coyotes decided to laugh at the plane situation, tweeting that Ohtani was on a plane to Phoenix.

The joke’s funny, but hockey fans quickly brought the Coyotes back down to earth by telling them that the team can’t even afford a real amphitheater!

Worst of all, the organization is valued at $450 million, according to Forbes. Othani’s next contract should bring him around $600 million! They could never afford him, no matter how hard they dreamed.

Speaking of teams that can’t afford him, the Quebec Remparts have also decided to laugh about it.

It’s a good joke, but Ohtani is unfortunately no longer old enough to play junior hockey.

Despite all the rumors surrounding the big hitter and ace pitcher, two other MLB informants explained on Twitter that Ohtani was not headed to Toronto.
