Montembeault’s agent insists his client has what it takes to bring the Cup back to Montreal

Samuel Montembeault played his first game since signing his contract extension on Monday, and lived up to expectations.

The Quebecer was brilliant in his team’s win over the Kraken, stopping 31 of 33 pucks.

The day after the game, all fans and followers of the Habs had the same thought: it’s time to give Monty more playing time and more responsibility.

CH management seems to be moving in just that direction, as Montembeault will be defending the CH cage against the mighty Kings tonight at the Bell Centre.

Montembeault’s agent, Paul Corbeil, was on Mario Langlois ‘ 98.5 Sports show last night.

He obviously praised his client’s performance and progress… But Paul Corbeil went even further, saying that Samuel has what it takes to bring the Stanley Cup back to town :

Samuel has the temperament. He has all the talent and qualities to be the goalie who brings the 25th Stanley Cup back to Montreal. And I firmly believe that. – Paul Corbeil

Jake Allen didn’t mince words when he said that Montembeault is one of the best goaltenders in the National League.

There’s been a lot of good talk about Monty lately, and it’s deserved.

It’s been difficult to evaluate the Quebecer since the start of the season because of the ménage à trois and the fact that he wasn’t playing as much as he wanted. But his consistency since the start of the campaign has enabled him to gain confidence even though he wasn’t playing as often, and he should be proud of that.

Speaking of the ménage à trois…

One might think that the situation will soon come to an end with the signing of Monty, but there’s no telling which way the Canadiens’ management will decide to sail.

Management doesn’t want to lose Cayden Primeau to the waivers for nothing… And the Habs love the leadership aspect of Jake Allen, as Arpon Basu recently explained on the Georges Laraque and Stéphane Gonzalez show (BPM Sports).

So, what to do?

In gusto

– 5-2 Kings tonight. How about you?

– He finally took flight.

– It goes without saying!

– I love his energy.
