Rocket erases 4-goal deficit to win over Belleville

November 15 will be remembered for a very long time. Karl, lead singer of the Cowboys Fringants, has sadly left us, and before going any further, I’d like to offer my most sincere condolences to his family and friends. Quebec has lost a great man who enabled me, the son of immigrants, to connect with Quebec culture and all it has to offer.

Getting back to the evening, the Rocket hosted their bête noire, the Belleville Senators. We were treated to a beautiful moment as the fans joined together to sing “Les étoiles filantes” by the Cowboys Fringants.

As for the game itself, the Rocket came from behind to defeat Belleville. Jean-François Houle’s team trailed 4-0 and managed to win 6-4.

The evening obviously didn’t start well for the Rocket, as Laval allowed the first four goals of the game. A Brandon Gignac goal at the end of the first period gave the home side some hope.

It was really in the second twenty that the tide turned. Olivier Galipeau and William Trudeau scored within 21 seconds to give fans hope.

Sean Farell and Mitchell Stephens completed the comeback in the third period. Stephens completely undercut goalkeeper Leevi Merilainen to lift the roof of Place Bell.

Tobie Paquet-Bisson put the final nail in the Senators’ coffin, bringing the score to 6-4.

It was another fine display of resilience from the young Laval squad. Joshua Roy and Farell once again performed very well. This bodes well for the rest of the season.
