Without making too much noise, Luke Tuch is off to a great start.

Sometimes I think we’re forgetting Luke Tuch.

It makes sense because he’s been in Lane Hutson’s shadow for the past two years. The two play together at Boston University, and when people talk about the club, it’s usually because of the little defender’s prowess.

But the CH’s big forward, without making too much noise, is having quite a start to his NCAA season. He has seven points in six games, but it’s his commitment and physicality on the ice that really stand out.

Tuch plays on the same trio as Macklin Celebrini, one of the most promising prospects for the upcoming NHL draft… And let’s just say it works. The CH prospect picked up two assists yesterday on his young teammate’s two goals:

Tuch may never become an NHL offensive player…

But we’re talking about a guy with a big frame who uses it very well to bring energy to his teammates on the ice. He hits, he goes to the corner, he’s not afraid to stick his nose in traffic to cause anything…

Yeah. His style of play has appealed to the CH organization, and I’m sure it will for many years to come if he continues to develop in this way. I don’t think he’s as talented as his brother (Alex)… But the CH doesn’t have many prospects like him.

He has the potential to bring a physical element to the CH’s attacking line-up, which could prove to be quite interesting in the coming years.

Tuch is in his final year of the NCAA and could finish the current season in Laval (or Montreal) if he signs his entry-level contract with the Habs.

We’ll be watching with interest, let’s put it that way.
