Eight days after the deal, the Habs have two extra players on their team → https://t.co/ES8LwsxeUy

It’s been nine days since the Habs traded Mike Hoffman and Rem Pitlick to the Penguins – in a much larger deal also involving the Sharks and Erik Karlsson.
In return, Jeff Petry, Casey DeSmith, Nathan Légaré and a second-round pick in 2025 headed to Montreal.
Nine days later, the Canadiens still haven’t introduced Petry and DeSmith to the media. Kent Hughes hasn’t spoken either, and of the lot, only Nathan Légaré has spoken a little, giving a few on-board interviews.
We all suspect it’s because the Habs want to trade Petry and DeSmith, and there’s no point in talking to the media just so you can’t answer questions with the truth… but the file is starting to drag.
Obviously, the fact that no one has spoken publicly opens the door to speculation, but let’s just say that the transaction theory is pretty solid. After all, the CH didn’t trade Joel Edmundson to replace him with Petry.
And among goaltenders, let’s say that with Jake Allen’s contract up, and with Samuel Montembeault being told not to worry, it’s easy to see the DeSmith deal as likely.
As I said, the CH hasn’t confirmed anything via its GM, but it has just given a good indication of its intentions. How? By publishing a report on the fact that Petry is up for trade.
On the Habs’ mobile app, we can see thata report about Petry being in the shop window has been shared. The news was reported by the Habs Chronicle Twitter account (the X account, that’s a bad word).

You have to poke around a bit (I say this for French speakers, because it’s only on the English version of the app), but once you find it, it’s pretty predominant.
Clearly, we’re talking here about a report shared automatically because it’s about the Canadiens and comes from NHL Network, the NHL’s official network.
But it’s special to think that if Jeff Petry wants answers to his questions, all he has to do is download his new (or old?) club’s official app to keep up to date.
Is Kent Hughes waiting for an ideal offer, one that doesn’t include a big salary holdback? That’s what I’ve been thinking for several days now.

Recall that the names of the Stars, Sabres and Red Wings have circulated in the file. They’re probably not the only clubs to have chatted with Kent Hughes in recent days.

– An ugly bet.
Just over a year ago, Dallas offered John Klingberg a deal worth $7m for 8 years.
Klingberg’s camp rejected it and wanted $8m for 8 years.
John just signed a $4.15m x 1 year contract with Toronto.
