The CH unveils its rookie tournament schedule
Once again this year, the Canadiens will take part in the Rookie Tournament. The 2023 edition will be held in Buffalo (as in 2022).

In the text published by the Montreal organization, we read that the rookie camp will begin on September 13, when players will have to report to Brossard to undergo medical examinations and visit tests.

The players will then head to New York State for three games.

On Friday, September 15, the CH youngsters will take on the Buffalo Sabres at 7pm.

The following day (September 16), a game will be played against the Boston Bruins at 3:30pm…

And finally, on Monday, September 18, the Canadiens will conclude their tournament against the Ottawa Senators. Game time is 1:30 p.m.

Last year, many fans watched the games, in particular to catch a glimpse of Juraj Slafkovsky.

It was at this tournament, it should be remembered, that Arber Xhekaj opened many eyes with his fights and his KO of a young Ottawa Senators prospect.

Which prospects will we be watching this year? All eyes will be on David Reinbacher, Joshua Roy, Logan Mailloux and Owen Beck. It will be particularly relevant to see how they perform on the ice in real game situations, as they did well at the CH development camp held in recent weeks.

But this tournament is always fun to watch, because it’s a chance for the prospects to showcase their individual progress. The boys will want to fight for a real place at the team’s training camp, which kicks off a few days after the end of the rookie camp.

It’s going to be action-packed and bickering, because the youngsters will want to do everything they can to secure their place at camp. It should be interesting to watch.

In closing, Jean-François Houle’s group will serve as coaches for the tournament.
