Arber Xhekaj: his big heart has made a difference for people in need

In recent days, Arber Xhekaj took part in a charity event on behalf of The Angel Project . Basically, we’re talking about an organization that helps people who are forced to fend for themselves when they’re in precarious situations.

He chose to get involved, and made sure he didn’t do things by halves.

At first, I thought he was just going to send us his sweater, but he arrived with his parents and took the time to talk to everyone. – Lisette Kingo, founder of The Angel Project

So yes, Arber Xhekaj showed up, chatted with people and offered his Canadiens jersey for auction. His parents were there too – because the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

We agree that not everyone would have done this. That’s why, in Ms. Kingo’s eyes, he’s “a real person, with a big heart, whose values are in the right place”.

What’s even more extraordinary is that Xhekaj has been supporting the organization for a few years, but when he saw the real people in need, he went to see Ms. Kingo to tell her he wanted to do more.

Let’s just say that’s unusual.

That’s what got me. Not many people do that.

Most of the time, we have to ask them to get involved, whereas he came to me. – Lisette Kingo

That’s how he became an ambassador for The Angel Project. At his age, it’s not everyone who thinks like he does and wants to give back so much, we agree.

But with his extraordinary family values, the player clearly understands that he’s a lucky man in life… and he wants to give back. That’s why he’s so beloved in Montreal.
