Video: Owen Beck crosses the rink and scores an impressive goal
Owen Beck and the Peterborough Petes began their Memorial Cup run on Saturday night. The Petes took on the Seattle Thunderbirds. Halfway through the game, the score was tied 1-1.

Canadian prospect Owen Beck wowed everyone late in the second period with an incredible goal. He carried the puck from one end of the rink to the other to give his team the lead.

There’s no real fantasy in this game, just efficient work. He used his speed to get past everyone and his shot was just perfect.

It’s a good way to redeem himself for the man who was suspended from the OHL final for his leg-crunch in game five. He had been suspended for the rest of the final, but there was only one more game. Fortunately, his suspension did not count during the Memorial Cup.

Beck isn’t the only Canadian prospect to shine in this match. Seattle Thunderbirds forward Jared Davidson made a perfect play into the opposing zone and served up a brilliant pass to teammate Kyle Crnkovic, who completed the maneuver.

Owen Beck collected 16 points in 22 games during the OHL playoffs. The versatile forward offered defensive and physical support in addition to his 16 points. But he’ll have to be careful to stay disciplined during the Memorial Cup.

Jared Davidson, meanwhile, collected 17 points in 19 games during the WHL playoffs. Aged 20, this is his last season in junior.

The Canadiens are well represented at the Memorial Cup.
