Keith Tkachuk helps the Panthers get back on track

The Florida Panthers finally got back on track at the end of the season. Towards the end of March, Florida suffered four straight setbacks, which angered Keith Tkachuk, Matthew’s father.

He made a controversial statement on March 29, when he appeared on Toronto’s TSN 1050 radio station.

“I’m a little disappointed with the Panthers. They’re a loose team and they’re getting everything they deserve right now.” – Keith Tkachuk

The team seemed to listen and won their next six games to narrowly qualify for the playoffs. The problem was, with the very last ticket to the playoffs, the Panthers had to face the mighty Boston Bruins in the first round.

After trailing 3-1 in the series against Boston, Florida came from behind to win the last three games of the series.

Since game four of the series against Boston, the Panthers have a record of 11 wins and just one loss in 12 games. No one seems to be able to stop them.

Tkachuk’s words were pretty harsh, but they seemed to work. Matthew Tkachuk now has 21 points since the start of the playoffs, having run out of steam during the Panthers’ losing streak at the end of March.

Florida can also thank Sergei Bobrovsky, who has come out of nowhere to provide his team with numerous playoff victories. He has a 2.21 goals-against average and a .935 save percentage since the start of the playoffs. That’s simply incredible.

The Panthers really are a Cinderella team. They weren’t even in the league’s top 16, but still managed to qualify. They’re proving to the entire NHL that the playoffs are a whole other season.
