CDM: Lane Hutson received the invitation while doing his homework
Lane Hutson was quietly studying in the study hall at Boston University when he received an important call. On the other end of the line, he was told that he had been selected to represent the United States at the World Championship.

The Canadiens prospect confirmed to NHL.com that he couldn’t say no to such an offer and accepted right away.

It was certainly a good decision, because he’s really made his mark since the start of the tournament. He’s currently fifth among the tournament’s top scorers among defensemen. He’s even the United States’ top scorer among defensemen, with 6 points in 7 games.

And don’t forget that he has a +8 differential, ranking 12th among all players in the tournament.

Taking part in the World Championship wasn’t just a question of impressing the CH organization for Hutson, but above all a way of gaining confidence in himself. He says he’s getting more confident with every game, having never played against professionals before.

San Jose Sharks head coach David Quinn is genuinely surprised by Hutson’s work since the start of the World Championship. He confirmed to NHL.com that the CH prospect is becoming more and more confident as he plays, describing him as a player as electric and dynamic as when he played at university level.

Teammate and Winnipeg Jets defenseman Dylan Samberg explains how impressed he has been with Hutson’s work on several occasions.

“Sometimes, the whole defense looks at what he’s doing and goes, ‘Oh my god, did you see that?”.” – Dylan Samberg via NHL.com

After so many compliments to his game, let’s hope Lane Hutson doesn’t stop his ascent. He’s proving to everyone that his small stature (5 feet 9 inches) doesn’t change his ability to play in the NHL.

We’re all looking forward to seeing him at the Habs’ next rookie camp, but we might give him a rest after the World Championship.

In brief

– We hope to see him ready for the next training camp.

– This would be the first time in NBA history that a team has won a series after trailing 3-0.

– We’ll have to keep an eye on them next year.

– Bennett is used to big hits.
