Philippe Boucher thinks the Maple Leafs look like a peewee club

Things aren’t going well for the Maple Leafs. Trailing 2-0 to the Florida Panthers, the Toronto team doesn’t look good. However, former Drummondville Voltigeurs general manager Philippe Boucher thinks the situation is completely awful.

He was on TVA Sports’ JiC show on Friday night, and didn’t mince his words about the Leafs.

“What a lousy effort! We look like a pee-wee club.” – Philippe Boucher

He says “on” because he admits to having joined the Maple Leafs train during the first round of the playoffs, when they were doing pretty well, but he can’t stand watching Toronto’s performances.

Boucher has seen several sequences where Maple Leafs players look very bad, especially the star players. He had hoped to see a good one-two punch of the caliber of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl in Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner, but was extremely disappointed.

It’s still hard on Toronto. They still dominated the game in terms of shots, 37 to 29. If it hadn’t been for Sergei Bobrovsky, the result would certainly have been different.

Boucher no longer believes in them, so much so that he explained he had bought tickets for the next game in the series and was even going to buy a Panthers Anthony Duclair jersey. He managed Duclair for two seasons with the Quebec Remparts.

All is not lost for the Maple Leafs, but they’ll certainly have to step up their game in game three.
