The Canadian made too many excuses during his review

The CH season is finally over, and now it’s time for the Kent Hughes show . It all starts on May 8, when the lottery takes place. We’ll find out if the GM will draft Connor Bedard. Then, on July 1, the free-agent market begins. Will Hughes make a big splash? Will he add depth to his roster? Does he intend to sign Alex Killorn? In short, all these questions will be answered in a few months’ time. As for the end-of-season review, Normand Flynn found that the CH found plenty of excuses to describe the horrible 2022-2023 season. But at the same time, did we expect better from the team that finished last in the overall standings in 2021-2022?

I really don’t like excuses, but the injury situation is more of a fact than an “excuse”. No, the CH wouldn’t have made the playoffs if Kirby Dach, Cole Caufield and company had played every game, but the show would have been more entertaining and the team would have been more competitive, which isn’t necessarily a good thing. #LoterieBedard But in reality, I agree with Flynn: Martin St-Louis made far too many excuses. The fact remains that, on a few occasions, he put his pants on and disciplined his guys. The Jonathan Drouin situation is the first that comes to mind. For a coach in his first full season, he didn’t let it get to him. On another note, Flynn thinks next year’s line-up could make the playoffs. With a hopefully healthy line-up, the Tricolore would definitely be competitive. From there to the playoffs? Maybe not, but I like our chances for the 2024-2025 season. Youngsters like Joshua Roy, Riley Kidney, Lane Huston, Logan Mailloux and so on could make the leap to the NHL and help the team reach the playoffs. The 2023-2024 season is the last one where a non-participation in the playoffs will be tolerated, in my opinion. Unless Pierre-Luc Dubois arrives in the metropolis this summer, for example…

En rafale

– Michel Therrien convinced Ginette Reno to sing in 2014.

– Several teams interested in Kyle Dubas.

– We all look the same right now.
