In fact, Starbucks has just been sued for using way too much ice in its cold drinks and we have to say, we’ve experienced this first-hand! We know that a great cold brew needs some cubes, but the ratio is of utter importance. And it’s something one customer is taking the multinational brand to court over.
"A Starbucks customer who orders a Venti cold drink receives only 14 fluid ounces of that drink - just over half the advertised amount, and just over half the amount for which they are paying,” claims the lawsuit, as reported by Courthouse News Service.
"Starbucks is advertising the size of its cold drink cups on its menu, rather than the amount of fluid a customer will receive when they purchase a cold drink - and deceiving its customers in the process," it continues.
The coffee giant has in fact responded to the lawsuit, which was filed by Stacey Pincus in Northern Illinois Federal Court last week, but it did not really do much in terms of addressing the claims. Instead, Sbux told CNN: "Our customers understand and expect that ice is an essential component of any 'iced' beverage. If a customer is not satisfied with their beverage preparation, we will gladly remake it.”
Wow. Is it just us or can you feel the passive aggressiveness in that statement jumping off the page? No denial, no confirmation - just attitude. Which isn’t exactly winning them any supporters.
Pincus is seeking damages of close to $5 million. To be continued!
