Angélil passed away on January 14th after losing a lengthy battle with throat cancer. He was remembered and honored by everyone from former prime ministers to local musicians, as hundreds of fans gathered outside to pay their respects.

The entire ceremony was livestreamed from the moment the 47-year-old singer arrived at the Basilica with her mother, 15-year-old son René-Charles and 5-year-old twin sons Eddy and Nelson.
Recordings of Dion's "All the Way", "L'amour Existe Encore" and "Pour Que tu M'Aimes Encore" were played during the ceremony and 15-year-old René-Charles brought everyone to tears with his eulogy. But also managed to make his mom smile with a touch of humor.
"15 years is not a long time for a son to get to know his father," he said, telling the crowd that he and his father bonded over golf, hockey and, of course, smoked meat. "And a lot of other wonderful food, bonding more and more as time went by."
"You left me now with enough good memories of you to share with my younger brothers," he continued. "As they grow older without you being around, I'll make sure to pass on what I've learned from you. You are a tough act to follow but with our help everything is going to be fine. Dad, I promise you here that we're all going to live up to your standards."
Perhaps the most touching moment of all, however, came when Dion said goodbye to Angélil with their secret handshake before slipping his wedding band on her finger.
