H&M’s new video campaign may aim to promote sustainability ("Recycle your clothes, jeans and fabrics of any sort in any one of our stores — together we can close the loop."), but there’s a much bigger — and even better — message underlying the clip: Inclusiveness.
In the ad, the global fashion powerhouse shows off that beauty knows no bounds and stars a transgender model, plus size supermodel Tess Holliday, a model with a prosthetic leg, a group of Sikh men and a beautiful Muslim model named Mariah Idrissi who's proudly wearing a hijab, a first for the Swedish brand.
“It always feels like women who wear hijab are ignored when it comes to fashion,” Idrissi told Fusion. “Our style, in a way, hasn’t really mattered, so it’s amazing that a brand that is big has recognized the way we wear hijab. It might be because hijab fashion has boomed in the last few years and to finally see a hijabi in mainstream fashion is a big achievement.”
We love it!
