Barely a week after #TheDress made the Internet go crazy, The Salvation Army in South Africa saw the opportunity to use the phenomenon in a clever way.
So which colors did you see: white and gold or black and blue? "Why is it so hard to see black and blue?" asks The Salvation Army.
Copy reads: "The only illusion is if you think it was her choice. One in 6 women are victims of abuse. Stop abuse against women." ( these stats are most likely for South Africa only)
The campaign message is pretty straight forward, but the underlying message behind the ad sure feels like there should be more conversation surrounding domestic abuse rather than a dress color.
More than 35% of women around the world have experienced some sort of domestic abuse also according to unwomen.org "Around 120 million girls worldwide (slightly more than 1 in 10) have experienced forced intercourse or other forced sexual acts at some point in their lives"
Those stats are pretty guesome.
So what do you think of this ad? On point ? We think so.
