ScarJo obviously doesn’t agree with us, though, as she’s just unveiled the first single from her new all-girl group called The Singles. We want the band to be a joke so bad, but it’s looking pretty legit.
The Singles features Johansson on vocal with Este Haim, the oldest Haim sister, playing drums, and Holly Miranda, Kendra Morris and Julia Haltigan rounding out the crew.
"The idea was to write super-pop dance music written and performed by girls," Johansson told Rolling Stone, listing Grimes, the Bangles and the Go-Go's as The Singles’ main influences. "I wanted it to be like those bands: ultra-pop but also a little ironic, a little in on the joke."
Unfortunately, the track, which is called "Candy", leaves a lot to be desired - we’re tempted to go all out and say it’s pretty horrible - and, contrary to what the ladies were hoping for, we’re not laughing with them. At all.
Listen to “Candy” below and let us know what you think!
