Even though a coma finally ending is a big relief for those surrounding the person affected, waking up from one is just like waking up from a very long dream (not speaking from experience here!).

It can also bring impressive surprises, as it did for Ben McHanon, an Australian man who woke up from his coma following a terrible car crash and was fluent in Mandarin, but had totally forgotten English. (See complete coverage of that story here.)

McHanon's ordeal came to mind when I read the question asked by reddit user supersod, who wanted to know what would be the first thing his fellow Redditors would do after waking up from a long coma.

The thread, titled ''If you woke up this morning out of a 10 year coma, what's the first thing you would do?'' had a lot of awesome answers and here are just a few of them:

mrrogersghosts: Call my mommy

Beardedly: Ask what year it is and WTF happened to put me into a 10 year coma. Then ask who our new alien overlords are.

Its_not_my_real_name: Same thing I do every morning when I wake up. Hit snooze and roll over.

gulpeg: If my girlfriend stuck around for 10 years while I was in a come, I'd marry her. Or else I guess I'd be looking for a new girl.

WadeWilsonforPope: Coffee. Always start with coffee.

SilentOneBravo: Drink whisky and go fishing.

Sinther:  Have a fucking piss. Duh.

What would you do?
