It’s been a while since we’ve seen the Oscar-winning actress tackle something this emotional and difficult and with actual depth and we’re super stoked about it - FINALLY!
In the drama, Witherspoon plays Cheryl Strayed, a recovering heroin addict who goes on a 1,100-mile journey, hiking the mountains of the Pacific Crest Trail, to try and find herself. The story is based on the real Cheryl Strayed's 2012 memoir, Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail, and was adapted for the big screen by Nick Hornby, the author behind such classics as High Fidelity and About a Boy.
Here's the movie's official synopsis: "With the dissolution of her marriage and the death of her mother, Cheryl Strayed has lost all hope. After years of reckless, destructive behavior, she makes a rash decision. With absolutely no experience, driven only by sheer determination, Cheryl hikes more than a thousand miles of the Pacific Crest Trail, alone." We can't wait!
Wild hits theatres on December 5!
