We have reached the FINAL week of February. Forget those kids in Russia, us over here in Canada deserve a medal for surviving this winter. The good news is it is almost over.
Spring awaits! But before it can get here, we have a few more weeks of cold, and a few more fun, winter worthy events to check out:
FOOD: Grilled Cheese Fest
This might be the greatest event that ever was. I will report back to you with a confirmation next week. For those of you who don't have tickets - you will need to sign up via the link to get on the wait list and cross your fingers and toes that you get a ticket. $40 gets you all you can eat fancy grilled cheeses from a variety of the best chefs in the city, with a side of gourmet soups. Also - 3 beer samples. Basically, this is the best winter festival idea I've ever heard of.
Where: Roy Thomson Hall
When: February 28th, 5:30pm
MUSIC: NXNE Presents Army Girls, Fresh Snow, Micheal Rault & More
What better way to spend a Tuesday than with a FREE night of music as an early taste of one of the best festivals in this city - NXNE? I can personally guarantee you that both Army Girls and Micheal Rault are more than worth the trip out to the Garrison for the evening. The night will also feature DJ sets by some recognizable personalities from the Toronto music scene.
Where: The Garrison
When: February 25th, 8pm
FASHION: Love Her
If you want to give back this week and you have a cool $200 to spare - consider attending this charity event in support of Ovarian Cancer Canada. The night will feature a fashion show by Andrews, a live auction, comedian Ron Tite, and music by Divine Brown - with Beverly Thomson and Marci Ien taking on hosting duties. It's a great reason to break out your best cocktail dress!
Where: The Liberty Grand
When: February 27th
EXHIBITION: Toronto International Bike Show
As much as Rob Ford may try to take away our bike lanes, nothing can stop Toronto from being a city of cyclists. Even in the worst winter weather, I still see the most passionate bike enthusiasts pushing through the piercing cold on two wheels. Indulge in all of the latest styles and find the fixie of your dreams at the show this weekend.
Where: Better Living Centre
When: February 28 - March 2nd
FILM: Academy Awards Free Screening at Bloor Cinema
Those of you without cable should be all over this event. And even if you have cable - it's a lot more fun to watch the Oscars on the big screen with hundreds of other people also looking to have a fun night. Trivia, contests and prizes throughout the evening make this option the better way to enjoy all that Hollywood glamour.
Where: The Bloor Hot Docs Cinema
When: March 2nd, doors at 6:30pm
