Meet Nakio, the bionic dog. Nakio lost his four legs from frostbites as a pup but thanks to Orthopet, he can run just as fast as his friends.
Nakio was abandonned during the winter in a house in Nebraska when he was still just a puppy. When he was found, the frost had already claimed its four paws and part of its tail and nose.
He was nursed back to health and adopted by veteranian assistant Christie Pace of Colorado Springs, Colo. Pace, concerned with the dog's incapacity to move, raised enough money to pay for two prosthetic legs manufactured by Denver-based veterinary hospital Orthopet. However, owner Martin Kaufmann said they decided to offer the two remaining legs when they saw how well Nakio was adapting to the first ones.
Well played Science
