After Kim Kardashian set up an eBay auction to sell off some of her unwanted designer goods and announced that proceeds would be going towards helping disaster relief efforts in the Philippines, we were moved (and shocked) by her generous plan. And we thought it sounded a little too good to be true.
This is what Kim had to say about the auction: “Hi guys, this is a very special auction because a portion of the proceeds of my eBay auction are going to International Medical Corps, which is a nonprofit organization that provides critical health services on remote islands where families are struggling to access medical care and basic resources like food, clean drinking water and vital medications. The proceeds will go directly to the communities they’re serving in the Philippines and will help typhoon survivors get access to medical care and ultimately save lives. My prayers and thoughts are with those affected by the typhoon. Check out my eBay auction here and support those who need our help in the Philippines. Xo”
Well, turns out our instincts were right because said 'portion' of proceeds she's going to be donating is... wait for it... 10%.
How about giving AT LEAST 50%, Kim?
Or donating some of your own money?
Or just selling your designer crap and being honest about wanting to make cash instead of trying to pass it off as a charitable move?
Ahhh, celebs. *facepalm*
