Remember when Demi Moore was rushed to hospital a while back without any real clues as to what had happened to her?
Well, apparently it had nothing to do with exhaustion, or whatever excuse was later given, and a lot to do with her use of Whip-Its. A trend that is unfortunately coming back with full force and once again gaining popularity amongst teens.
So what are Whip-Its? They’re small canisters filled with nitrous oxide, which are used to – what else? - get high. Teens can easily buy then at a headshops and online or, if they feel like getting creative, just make due with a whipped cream bottle.
The high lasts anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes and surely isn’t worth the very serious and very possible long-term risks like cutting oxygen flow to the brain, negative effects on the cardiovascular and nervous systems and yes, even death.
The scariest bit? Last year, a study found that over 12 million users had tried Whip-Its at least once.
