Career

Robert De Niro is one of Hollywood’s most popular and sought-after actors, directors and producers. Getting his start in the early ‘70s, namely in 1973’s Mean Streets and 1974’s The Godfather Part II (he initially tried out for the role of Michael Corleone in the first film, but didn’t get it and was cast in the sequel as the young Vito Corleone instead). Since then, De Niro’s career hasn’t slowed down one bit and he just keeps on delivering. Some of his biggest films include: Taxi Driver , Analyze This, Meet the Parents and Silver Linings Playbook.

Billy Bob Thornton is not only recognized as an actor, but also as a screenwriter, director and musician. First making a name for himself on TV with a little help from CBS sitcom Hearts Afire, he then moved to the big screen in the early ‘90s with movies like On Deadly Ground. In the mid-1990s, he wrote, directed and starred in Sling Blade, solidifying the fact that he was a force to be reckoned with. Thornton’s other memorable films included Armageddon and Bad Santa before he turned to music and began recording and touring as well. Point: De Niro

Awards
De Niro has been nominated for seven Academy Awards, six BAFTA Awards and eight Golden Globe Awards. He’s taken home  an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for The Godfather Part II and one for Best Actor in Raging Bull. He also has two Golden Globes at home.

Thornton received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on October 7, 2004 and has been nominated for two Academy Awards and four Golden Globe Awards. He took home the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for Sling Blade in 1996. Point: De Niro

Personal
De Niro is an avid supporter of film through and through, which is why he helped establish the Tribeca Film Festival in 2002. He is also an outspoken advocate when it comes to politics and has openly supported Obama, as well as Hillary Clinton.

Thornton landed in the news a lot for his personal life when he married Angelina Jolie in 2000. The couple only lasted till 2002, but their strange displays of love – including wearing lockets with each other’s blood – repeatedly made headlines. Thornton is also known to have OCD and can’t handle silverware or antique furniture. Point: De Niro
