"I feel like a fraud, my name is actually not even Ashton..."
From the moment, Kutcher spoke those words at the start of his acceptance speech, we knew something memorable was about to happen.
Announcing that he was going to share some "insider secrets", Ashton launched into a speech set to motivate the young audience in front of him and watching at home and stir some inspiration in young Americans. Talk about a big goal.
Ashton talked about his minimum wage jobs - "I believe that opportunity looks like hard work" - then proclaimed that "the sexiest thing in the entire world is being really smart, and being thoughtful, and being generous", then jumped into total Steve Jobs mode and quoted the legend he is currently portraying in his latest film, Jobs.
The 35-year-old actor said: "Everything around us that we call life was made up people who were no smarter than you… so build a life, don't live one. Build one. Find your opportunities and always be sexy."
Wow. Not exactly what we were expecting from the man who is somehow always cast as the... let's just say, not the sharpest tool in the shed. (Case in point: That '70s Show and Two and a Half Men.)
We, personally, were totally moved, but was anyone else? We couldn't help being a little annoyed at the desperate screams and cries of 'I Love You' during Ashton's efforts to actually SAY something. Which makes us think that maybe they were lost on his audience. But then again, if he even got through to one person, it was all worth it.
High five, Ashton. Steve Jobs would be proud.
