Next time you're nearly bleeding to death, you better hope John Malkovich is around!
This is exactly what happened to Jim Walpole, age 77, as he was walking down the streets of Toronto last thursday. He was strolling with his wife Marilyn, a retired nurse, when he tripped and ripped his neck open on some scaffolding.
According to his wife, he was losing tons of blood and had probably severed a major artery. Luckily, John was smoking a cigarette nearby and jumped to the rescue. As the wife was making sure that Jim wasn't moving, Malkovich used a towel to press down on the wound and slow down the bleeding until the paramedics arrived.
The man is now safe, and his story didn't hit the news until a few days later simply because he had no idea who Malkovich was. He says he asked him for his name, to which the actor simply replied "John".
Our new hero had vanished into the night just before the ambulance arrived because y'know, heroes just don't stick around to get the credit for saving lives.
There have been no reports of him wearing a cape, but clearly he was wearing one. Clearly.
